Spyder "Virtuoso" SB42A
This is an alternative version of the SB42A. The control layout is slightly different to that on "Boris" to accommodate the active EQ and in addition to the active control system there is a series/parallel switch for the neck pickup which gives two distinctly different sounds at the flick of a switch. The Kent Armstrong Humbucker pickups combined with the active EQ, pickup blend control and series parallel switching gives a huge tonal range to this bass.
The body has a maple and purpleheart core with mahogany wings and a flame maple top. The neck is maple with a purpleheart stripe in the back. The fingerboard is rosewood with 24 Dunlop 6000 frets; machine heads are by Schaller.
The body is finished in high gloss polyester and the neck in a very thin natural feeling satin.
