This is the AB602; AB? It stands for Anne Boleyn; why? Well the body and neck are made from Burmese Teak and this particular piece of teak spent a lot of time, from the late eighteen hundreds to the early nineteen seventies, as the top of the bar in the Boleyn Inn.
I was unable to find any real information on the use of teak in electric guitars so I built this more as an R&D exercise than a commercial proposition so it has joined the ranks of the demo fleet.
The carved top is made from 18mm thick Flame Maple and the neck has an Indonesian Rosewood fingerboard with flame Maple binding.
Pickups are Bare Knuckle P92's, the bridge is a Badass wrap around with Graph Tech String Saver saddles. Machine heads are Schaller M6 Locking.
This guitar is incredibly resonant; strum a full chord unplugged and you can feel the whole thing just sing. The tone, when amplified, is really woody and very acoustic sounding. It would seem that teak is the perfect partner for these outstanding hand made Bare Knuckle pickups. I have enough of the original piece of teak to make two more guitars so watch this space.
